Privacy notice

Who we are
The Balaton Sailing and Social Group is an unregistered members' group based on the Mar Menor in Murcia, Spain, affiliated to SAMM (the Sailing Association Mar Menor). For the purposes of data protection law, the group is the controller of the personal information described here. You can contact us at [email protected].
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you use the sign-up box, we collect your first name, surname and email address. We use them only to send you the group newsletter. The lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form and confirm the confirmation email.
- Enquiries. If you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as it takes to answer you and to keep a record of the enquiry.
- Photographs. We publish photographs of members, boats and events only with the consent of the people shown. We do not name people in photographs unless they are happy to be identified. No one under 18 is featured; where a young person appears, a parent or guardian has given consent in advance.
- Website statistics. If you allow statistics in the cookie banner, we count page views anonymously. This is self-hosted by our web provider and does not set advertising cookies or build a profile of you.
Who else sees it
The newsletter list is held in Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.), which sends the emails on our behalf under its standard data-processing terms. Our website is hosted and maintained by Kaburu (kaburu.co), which also hosts the anonymous statistics. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to deal with them. Photographs stay on the site until the person shown asks us to remove them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive it in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time — including unsubscribing from the newsletter.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es), or to the supervisory authority in your own country.
Cookies
What we store on your device, and how to change your choice, is set out in our cookie policy.
